Today's opinion page presents The Gazette City Council survey responses from Ward 3 candidates Aldo Rowe and Danny Choriki. Both of these candidates will appear on the Nov. 5 city election ballot. The winner will succeed Christ Friedel who did not seek re-election. Because there are only two candidates in Ward 3, no primary is held in this ward on Sept. 10.
The Gazette invited all candidates for Billings City Council to answer these questions about city government issues:
1. What is the most important issue for residents of your city ward and what will you do to address it if elected?
2. The city’s annual budget is being balanced by using reserve funds for a portion of police and fire department costs, but this funding is unsustainable after next year. What should the City Council do to ensure adequate public safety services for Billings’ future?
You have free articles remaining.
3. What are your priorities for Billings’ city parks, trails and public lands? How will you work for those priorities on the council?
4. What role should city government play in promoting economic development?
Survey responses from Ward 1 candidates were printed Monday; responses from Ward 2 candidates were printed Tuesday. Answers from Ward 4 and 5 candidates will be printed Thursday and Friday, respectively. All candidate responses are posted at billingsgazette.com.
