In a flyer given to House District 48 voters, Denise Johnson made patently false claims about her opponent, Rep. Jessica Karjala. What this shows us is that Denise Johnson is yet another politician willing to distort the truth in order to get elected.
The fact is Rep. Karjala did not violate any campaign transparency laws. She has accounted for every single donor, donation and expenditure of her campaigns. She gave the Commissioner of Political Practices the names and amounts given by every single campaign donor. Because her campaign did not provide donors addresses, a Republican operative filed a complaint against Rep. Karjala's campaign. That same GOP operative has filed many, many other frivolous complaints against Democrats in order to create the illusion that Democrats break campaign finance laws. Don’t fall for it.
Karjala has knocked on many of your doors and listened to you. She has sponsored and passed significant legislation dealing with suicide prevention, care for the elderly, services for those with disabilities, and combating high pharmaceutical prices. Ironically, without Karjala, we would not have passed the Montana Disclose Act in 2015 which gave us our current campaign finance transparency laws.
Rep. Karjala has earned your trust and your vote.
