I am writing in support of Becky Riedl running for the position of Yellowstone County Auditor.
As a lifelong resident of Yellowstone County, Riedl was raised by a stay-at home mother of eight and a father that worked long, long hours in a refinery, to support his large family. So, Riedl completely understands the importance of accountability for those hard-earned dollars working families pay in taxes.
As a program manager and certified workforce development professional, she administered and operated federal grant programs for dislocated workers which required that every dollar spent followed all federal regulations, that payments were fully documented and that ever dollar was accounted for. As a trustee on highly regulated multi-employer trust funds, she has had the fiduciary responsibility of approving expenditures and accountability for the incoming funds. Riedl also serves as an auditor and secretary/treasurer for the Greater Yellowstone Central Labor Council, Southeastern Montana Building and Construction Trades Council and the Montana Laborers Local 1686.
Voters hire county auditors making them accountable to the taxpayers and no one else. That independence gives them the authority to look over the shoulders of everyone working in county government; ensuring your tax dollars are spent for a proper public purpose. I know that Riedl has the skills, ability and tenacity to perform the duties required and the energy to help with any project the county may need.
