Tuesday was a bright and sunny morning, and I took an hour-long bike ride along the Big Ditch Trail, passing a young couple holding hands, an elderly man using a cane, and a mother jogging behind a baby stroller. I spotted a few horses grazing in a pasture.

The editorial in the paper that morning was about the importance of funding the maintenance and expansion of trails in Billings because the federal funding has dried up. I'm 100 percent in favor of adding the option of $2 a month on the city utility bill to pay for these projects. This is not a tax. Anyone not wanting to support trails can simply opt out. By the way, I am not a millennial. I am a retired senior citizen who wants to stay healthy as long as possible.
