The Summer Youth Program at Makoshika State Park returns May 30 through Aug. 1. The weekly programs are held every Thursday from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
The series kicks off with the program “Oh, Deer.” All animals need food, water, shelter and space, but the amounts needed to survive vary by species. In this program, students will explore these four components of an animal’s habitat using deer as an example.
Children 7-13 years old are welcome to attend these programs, which are sponsored by Montana State Parks. Children attending five or more programs will be invited to an overnight campout on Aug. 7-8.

All programs meet at the visitor center. Participants should bring a water bottle, bug spray, sunscreen and dress appropriately for the weather; no flip-flops, please. Program schedules and registration forms are available at the Makoshika State Park Visitor Center. Contact Sue Veroye at 406-377-6256 for more information.
Due to liability issues the park must have at least one additional adult (besides our instructors) per 10 participants. Parents are strongly encouraged to signup with their children and share in these fun learning experiences.
