Blackfoot River

Pete Shinn guides Army veteran Shawn Graves on a fly-fishing trip down the Blackfoot River in 2013 while participating in a Project Healing Waters float for disabled veterans sponsored by the Big Blackfoot Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Disabled veterans or disabled service members are invited to attend the first meeting of a new Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing program in the Billings area.

The meeting will be held on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at East Rosebud Fly and Tackle. Volunteers are also needed and are invited to attend.

The focus of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is to provide a program focusing on fly fishing basics (Fly Fishing 101), fly tying classes, fly rod building, and then offering day outings in and around the local area. The group will also seek donations to have destination outings, as well.

Since its founding in 2005, more than 10,000 disabled veterans have participated in PHWFF programs thanks to more than 4,000 volunteers who have dedicated more than 1.7 million hours of their time.
