About Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary
Our education platform, The Wildlife Connection uses classroom outreach, educational tours, community collaboration and technology to allow K-12 students to learn about animal habitats and adaptations, human-animal interactions and predator-prey relationships.
By providing a link between society and the wild, it is our hope and mission to inspire people of all ages to care as deeply about the magnificence and wildness of Montana as much we do.
Our animals and programs are dependent on the support of our community through memberships, adoptions and most importantly individual donations. If the cause to rescue non-releasable Montana wildlife and environmental education is something that speaks to you, please consider becoming part of our amazing organization.
Help us continue our work giving lifelong sanctuary to Montana wildlife and sharing a message of conservation and education with kids and adults of all ages.
The Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary (YWS) has been in existence since 1991. In 1991 a group of concerned citizens took over the Red Lodge Zoological Society and founded the Beartooth Nature Center (BNC). The BNC’s initial mission back in 1991 was basically the same as it is today:
By caring for animals unable to return to the wild, the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary’s primary focus is to educate the public about the protection and conservation of Yellowstone ecosystem wildlife and natural habitats.
