It’s my privilege to serve as the Chief Volunteer Officer during this great time in the history of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County. The Club has come a long way in the last 40 years, and our current Board of Directors continues the traditions of commitment and dedication that all of the board members over the years have brought to the club.
Both the Club and our partner, the Boys and Girls Club Endowment Foundation, are focused on the future success of the Club. We’re dedicated to helping our members move forward into bright futures. Our focus in the coming years is on several essential priorities: Financial Stability, Improving Impact and Leadership Development.
We’ve experienced rapid growth over the past eight years and have expanded from just one to four clubhouse locations, which have increased our ability to serve more children around the greater Billings area. While this growth is exciting and helps many families that might not have been able to utilize the club otherwise, the recent economic downturn has been a stark reminder of the ongoing need to provide the club with the necessary financial resources for future generations. We have many friends who have generously provided what the Club needed in the past, and we are extremely grateful to them. Rest assured that the Club and Endowment Foundation Boards are working to ensure a sustainable financial future for our current Clubhouses and the kids they serve.

Our most important obligations are to the club kids and the fulfillment of the Club’s mission. Working closely with our staff, we are reviewing our current operations to ensure we are building Clubhouse environments that provide the programs and activities our members need. As is consistent with the national Boys and Girls Clubs of America organization, it is our goal to maintain a club atmosphere that is focused on measurable outcomes, namely commitment to club, personal responsibility, academic success and civic engagement.
Building and retaining great Club professionals who work with the members each day is a must for the future success of our Clubhouses. Our Board is building a plan to ensure the organization has the tools, training and resources needed to recruit and retain the best and brightest staff professionals, who serve as all-important role models for our members. Without these dedicated professionals we cannot be successful.
Our community can be proud of the work the Clubs do for kids and can be confident that we remain committed to enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
