To mark The Billings Gazette's 125th anniversary, we look back at news on this date from earlier editions of The Gazette and the frontier publications that merged to form the newspaper.

On Feb. 11:

In 1913: "The great New York Nationals, who claim, and justly too, the basketball championship of the United States, will be brought to Billings early in March to play the Triple B's."

In 1938: "Of 436 Billings high school and grade school students given tuberculosis tests this week, 54 of them or approximately 12 per cent showed positive reactions. ... This number of positive reactors is slightly less than the number last year when nearly 13 percent of the students showed positive reactions."

In 1987: "Tempers reached a boiling point Tuesday when South Side neighbors accused Yellowstone County officials of not protecting their water from a year-old fuel spill at the county shops."
