MISSOULA -- The Missoula Mavericks scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of the second game to earn a sweep of the Billings Royals in American Legion baseball on Saturday.
Missoula won 12-2 in the first game and 12-11 in the second. The teams play again on Sunday in Missoula.
Slade Heggen homered and had four RBIs for the Mavericks in the opener, while Alec Bouchee had three RBIs. Missoula finished with 14 hits.
The Royals had four doubles and a triple in the second game. Pete Lind had three RBIs for Billings, while Tanner Leenknecht had three hits. Joe Zimmer and Spencer Bower also had two hits apiece for the Royals.
