Kevin Angland fired a five-inning no-hitter and the Billings Royals blanked Summit, Colo., 16-0 at the Goldsmith Gallery Jewelers/Make-A-Wish Foundation American Legion baseball tournament Sunday at Dehler Park.
Earlier in the day at Pirtz Field, Billings tallied 10 hits on the way to a 9-1 triumph over Dickinson, N.D. The two-time defending State AA champion Royals are now 19-9 overall and 4-4 in conference.
In tossing the no-no, Angland issued one walk and struck out nine. Beau Thomas paced the Royals' offensive attack, going 2 of 3 with two runs and three RBIs against the Tigers. Drew Atkeison, Austin Vogel, Pete Lind and Nolan Timmons all drove in two for Billings.
In their first game, the Royals received another strong pitching performance as Vogel went the five-inning distance in the win over Dickinson. The game was stopped due to the eight-run rule.
Tanner Leenknecht slammed a home run and double and finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and one run. Matt Dillon went 2-4, including a triple, plated two runners and scored once.
