BOISE, Idaho — Billings Mustangs catcher Eric Yang hit a pinch-hit solo home run to lead off a five-run sixth inning for the Pioneer League All-Stars, who went on to beat the Northwest League All-Stars 11-7 Tuesday night.
Yang’s homer tied the score at 6-6 and helped the PL win its second straight in the fifth edition of the annual game between the two rookie-level leagues.
Yang went 1-for-2 in the game.
Another Mustangs all-star, pitcher Miguel Medrano, threw an inning and allowed two runs, both earned. He allowed two hits, a walk, and also struck out two.
Relief pitcher Jake Stevenson, the Mustangs third all-star, didn’t get into the game.
Orem’s Jeremiah Jackson hit a grand slam for the Pioneer League and Ogden’s Jon Littell added a three-run homer.
The Mustangs, who are tied with the Missoula Osprey for the North Division second-half lead at 6-3, are Wednesday before starting an eight-game homestand on Thursday. The Mustangs play the Vibe at Dehler Park with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
