BILLINGS – The Billings Mustangs lost a seven-run lead, but scored the last five runs of the game to beat the Ogden Raptors 12-7 as the Pioneer League picked back up Thursday night following its All-Star break.
Drew Mount, Juan Martinez and Carlos Rivero all had two hits and two RBIs, and Cash Case also had two RBIs to spark the Mustangs to their 12th win in their last 14 games.
Staked to a 7-0 lead, Mustangs pitchers couldn’t hold it as the Raptors (8-5, 34-17) scored three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the seventh to knot the score.
But Andrew McDonald (2-2), the Mustangs’ fourth pitcher, threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings to allow the team’s bats to come alive again with a four-run seventh inning and an insurance run in the eighth.
The Mustangs improved to 10-2 in the second half and 25-25 overall.
The teams meet again Friday night at Dehler Park. The game is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start.
