GREAT FALLS — The Great Falls Voyagers flipped the switch at the right time. 

Great Falls completed a perfect Pioneer League playoffs with the 13th league title in franchise history on Thursday.

The Voyagers defeated the Grand Junction Rockies 6-4 at Centene Stadium to win their first championship since 2011. The win in game 2 of the best-of-three series gave the Voyagers a sweep. Great Falls won the opener 12-9 at Grand Junction on Tuesday.

Grand Junction was making its first Pioneer League Championship Series appearance. 

On Thursday, Great Falls led 5-0 after three innings and weathered the Rockies scoring a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. The Voyagers tacked on an insurance run in the eighth. The first three batters of the Voyagers' lineup — Travis Moniot, Lenyn Sosa and Romy Gonzalez — combined to bat 7-for-12 with two runs and four RBIs in the title-clinching victory. 

Great Falls won the North Division first-half title with a record of 22-16. The Voyagers went 12-25 in the second half and finished the regular season 34-41. Great Falls opened the playoffs with a sweep of the Billings Mustangs, winning 3-2 and 9-2. The Mustangs had closed the regular season with four straight wins over the Voyagers.

Great Falls has also won PL championships in 1951, 1954, 1961, 1971, 1975, 1976, 1988, 1989, 1990, 2002, 2008 and 2011.

The Voyagers were playing in their second straight PL championship series. In 2017 Ogden defeated Great Falls in the best-of-three series, two games to one.
