GREAT FALLS – Four Great Falls pitchers combined on a three-hitter as the Voyagers defeated the Billings Mustangs 2-0 on Saturday night at Centene Stadium.
The loss snapped the Mustangs’ three-game winning streak.
Jeff McKenzie (1-0) started for Great Falls and allowed two hits in six innings. Jace Fry and Brian Clark followed with a perfect inning each, before Connor Walsh closed the door in the ninth after giving up one hit and a walk for his first save.
A game after getting a league-high 20 hits – and following Friday night’s rain out in Helena – only Daniel Paula, Jimmy Pickens and Nick Benedetto managed to get a hit.
The Voyagers (4-2) scored an unearned run in the first inning off Wyatt Strahan (0-1) and added another run in the seventh on an RBI from Chevy Clarke.
Reliever Seth Varner threw three shutout innings for the Mustangs (3-2), who allowed just four hits.
The teams continue their four-game series with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
