GREAT FALLS — James Free homered and Jonathan Willems doubled and tripled Monday night as the Billings Mustangs beat the Great Falls Dodgers 7-2 in Pioneer League baseball.
Free's 2-run home run in the first inning helped stake the Mustangs to a lead they would never relinquish. Great Falls had won four straight games.
Willems finished with three hits and drove in two runs.
TJ Hopkins, Free and Eric Yang had two hits apiece for the Mustangs, who had 11 hits overall. Yang doubled twice and had two RBIs.
Hopkins has a hit in seven consecutive games.

Frainger Aranguren (3-1), who pitched three innings in relief of starter Miguel Medrano, was the winning pitcher for Billings. He gave up two hits and struck out two.
Medrano went the first four innings. He allowed four hits, one earned run and struck out five.
Newcomer Alec Byrd also provided two innings of hitless relief for Billings in making his Pioneer League debut.
The Mustangs (18-24) and Voyagers (18-23) will play the second game of their three-game set on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
