Billings native Matt Halvorsen improved to 2-0 in professional boxing Saturday in Rochester, Wash., at the Lucky Eagle Casino.
Halvorsen scored his second career knockout over Ray Perales (1-2) of Nampa, Idaho, when he was awarded a TKO in the second round of a 170-pound bout.
"He came in aggressive and got a couple body shots that stunned me and then I let my hands go and I started throwing my straight left and right hooks and was stunning him bad," said the 23-year-old southpaw. "The next thing you know the ref stopped it."
Halvorsen, who went to school at Billings West, was the Club Boxing state middleweight champion this year. He competes with the Dawg Pound Boxing Club under trainer Rudy Meza.
