Eddie LaPera's unassisted, shorthanded goal with 61/2 minutes remaining proved to be the game-winner Wednesday night as the Billings Bulls rallied for an entertaining 6-5 NorPac Hockey League win over the Bozeman IceDogs at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark.
Michael Greene gave Bozeman a 5-4 lead with a goal 1:33 into the third period.
But Billings answered with Josh Giudice's second goal of the night, a power-play goal with 9:27 remaining. Three minutes later, LaPera put the Bulls ahead 6-5 and that score stood up over the final 61/2 minutes.
Lucas Neitenbach and Colby Spoonemore also scored goals for Billings. Steven Shaffroth had three assists for the Bulls, while LaPera and Stormy Knight each had two assists.
Billings goalie David Herman had 34 saves. The Bulls outshot Bozeman 45-39.
A New Year's Eve crowd of 2,217 was on hand for the game, which wrapped up the Bulls' annual three-game stint at MetraPark.
The Bulls return to action tonight, hosting the Helena Bighorns at 7:15 p.m. at Centennial Arena.
