Former University of Montana kicker Dan Carpenter has been named to the Pro Football Writers All-Rookie team.

Carpenter, a Helena native, scored 103 points, going 21 of 25 on field goal attempts and making all 40 of his extra points. At one point he set a Dolphins rookie record by hitting 14 straight field goals.

Carpenter signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent.

The Dolphins have also announced the signing of former Montana running back Lex Hilliard, who ended the 2008 season on Miami's practice squad. Hilliard is from Kalispell.
