JAMESTOWN, N.D. — Cleet Wreszinski of Dickinson State won the North Star Athletic Association men's heptathlon title with a record-breaking performance.
The freshman from Baker won four events and finished with 4,700 points. The previous record was 4,292 points by DSU teammate Thomas Sease.
The pair finished 1-2 at NSSA meet and qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, March 1-3.
Wreszinki, a multiple high school state champion in Montana for Ennis and Baker, won the 60-meter dash (7.19 seconds), the long jump (22-feet, 6.5-inches), the shot put (34-9.5) and 60-meter hurdles (8.54 seconds).
Paitton Herbst, also of Baker, finished third in the women's pentathlon for the Blue Hawks at the NSSA meet. She won the 800-meter run (2:48.48) and was second in the shot put and 60-meter hurdles.
