The week that was: The Grizzlies rebounded from back-to-back road losses last week with a 64-44 home win over Sacramento State Thursday night.

The big number: 39.7. Montana limits teams to just 39.7 percent shooting, which ranks first in the Big Sky Conference.

Tip-ins: Saturday's game against UNC could play a big role in who hosts the conference tournament. The Bears are in first place with a 10-2 record. UM is in second place. ... The Griz were without PG Will Cherry on Thursday for the second straight game. Cherry sprained his left ankle last week against Weber State, and is questionable for the UNC game ... C Brian Qvale had six blocks on Thursday, upping his season total to 78, second-most in league history.

Montana State

(11-13, 5-7 Big Sky)

Next up: Sunday vs. Sacramento State, 12 p.m.; Tuesday at San Jose State, 2 p.m.

The week that was: The Bobcats lost their sixth consecutive game Thursday night, an 86-77 home defeat to first-place Northern Colorado.

The big number: 77. MSU's 77 points Thursday night were its most in more than a month. The Cats averaged just 52.6 points in its previous five games.

Tip-ins: Sunday's game versus Sacramento State will serve as Altitude TV's Big Sky Conference game of the week. ... MSU's losing streak is its longest since it lost six straight during the 2006-07 campaign. The Bobcats had lost five in a row earlier this season. ... G Erik Rush had a team-high 22 points against UNC. His 15.3 points per game average ranks fourth in the Big Sky.

The week that was: The Lady Griz won their fourth straight and sixth of their last seven with a 73-64 victory at Sacramento State Thursday night.

The big number: 75. After struggling on offense earlier in the year, the Lady Griz are averaging 75 points in their last three contests.

Tip-ins: The victory over Sacramento State moved Montana within a game in the loss column of first-place Northern Colorado and second-play Montana State. ... F Katie Baker came off the bench for the third straight game Thursday night and netted a team-high 19 points. Baker averages nearly 16 points coming off the bench. She was averaging roughly 11 as a starter. ... Montana leads the all-time series with Northern Colorado 8-1. UNC picked up its only win in the series earlier this season.

Montana State

(14-10, 8-2 Big Sky)

Next up: Saturday at Sacramento State, 2 p.m.; Thursday at Idaho State, 7 p.m.

The week that was: The Bobcats had their worst offensive output this season in a 64-46 defeat at Northern Colorado Thursday night.

The big number: 28. Montana State shot an uncharacteristically-low 28 percent against UNC. The Cats are currently ranked third in the Big Sky Conference in shooting percentage.

Tip-ins: Though it was only the team's second loss in its last 14 games, Thursday's setback bumped MSU from first place in the Big Sky standings. The Cats are now a half game back of UNC. ... The Bobcats' field goal percentage Thursday night was its lowest of the season. ... G Katie Bussey averages 14.7 points per game, but is scoring 16.2 points in conference games while shooting 42 percent.
