Bobcats coach Jeff Chaote promoted defensive intern Kyle Risinger to assistant secondary coach on Thursday.

BOZEMAN — Kyle Risinger, Montana State's defensive intern during the 2016 football season, has been elevated by Bobcats coach Jeff Choate to the role of assistant secondary coach.

A former two-time All-Northern Sun honorable mention selection at St. Cloud State in Minnesota, Risinger will aid first-year assistant Mark Orphey in the defensive backfield this season. He also worked as a defensive graduate assistant at Indiana State in 2015 before joining the MSU staff.

Risinger logged over 200 tackles in his three-year playing career at St. Cloud, and his 15 career pass breakups ranked in the school's career top 10 upon his graduation.
