HELENA — Montana State's Rob Ash has been chosen the Big Sky Conference football coach of the year in a vote of league coaches.

In his fourth season at MSU, Ash guided the Bobcats to a 7-1 conference record, a share of the league title and the Big Sky's automatic bid in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

Sixth-ranked Montana State (9-2) hosts either North Dakota State or Robert Morris in the second round of the playoffs on Dec. 4.

Ash and Eastern Washington coach Beau Baldwin are both candidates for the Eddie Robinson award, presented annually by The Sports Network to the FCS national coach of the year.
