BOZEMAN - Montana State volleyball coach Sara Schaub has announced the signing of 5-foot-9 outside hitter and defensive specialist Kasey Schlatter of Canby, Ore.

Schlatter was named the Canby High School team MVP as a freshman and a senior and was named to the all-state tournament team as a junior. She helped the Cougars to the 2008 Oregon Class 6A state tournament title.

Schaub says Schlatter has strong ball control skills, a high volleyball IQ and played in an outstanding club program.

Schlatter's sister, Garyn, was the Big Sky Conference freshman of the year who helped Portland State to the league title. Her mother, Terri Jo, played volleyball on Portland State's NCAA Division II championship team in 1984 and served as an assistant coach for the Vikings from 1985-93. Her father, Jim, coached football at Portland State in the 1980s.
