RENO, Nev. — The Northern Colorado women's basketball team earned its first Big Sky Conference tourney title with a 91-69 win over Idaho in the championship Saturday at the Reno Events Center.

Redshirt junior Savannah Smith scored a career-high 34 points for the Bears, 15 coming on five triples. She was named tourney MVP after earning the same honor for the regular season.

Northern Colorado (26-6) will make its first appearance in the NCAA tourney as a Division I program. The Bears boast an RPI ranking of 33, so they will likely earn a higher seed than is typically awarded to the Big Sky representative in the Big Dance.

Geraldine McCorkell scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Vandals. Natalie Klinker of Fairfield scored seven points for Idaho.

The all-tourney team consisted of Idaho State's Saylair Grandon, Portland State's Ashley Bolston, Idaho's Taylor Pierce and Mikayla Ferenz and Northern Colorado's Kianna Williams.
