MISSOULA — Montana women's basketball coach Robin Selvig has announced the signing of C.M. Russell guard Haley Vining.
Vining earned Class AA all-state honors as a junior, averaging 15 points and six assists for the Rustlers as they finished second at the state tournament.
Selvig says Vining is quick, fast and an intelligent player with good instincts.
Vining is a three-time all-state soccer player who suffered a knee injury during the soccer season and will miss her senior year of basketball. Selvig says he's seen many players come back strong from the same injury.
Vining's mother, Marti (Kinzler) Vining, played for Selvig from 1987-91, earning all-Big Sky Conference honors as a junior and senior.
Selvig says he expects Vining will be his only new recruit for the 2011-12 season.
