MISSOULA — Montana Grizzlies linebacker Dante Olson earned his seventh All-America honor on Wednesday, this one coming from Athlon Sports.

Phil Steele also named Olson its FCS Defensive Player of the Year. The Medford, Oregon, native finished third in voting for the Buck Buchanan Award, presented to the top defensive player in the FCS.

Olson, an All-Big Sky first-team selection, broke Montana's single-season tackles record with 151 and averaged 13.7 tackles per game, the top mark in the nation during the regular season. He added 11 tackles for loss, six sacks, five quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, three pass breakups and two interceptions in 11 games.

Four other Big Sky Conference players made Athlon Sports' All-America team. The offensive players are Cal Poly fullback Joe Protheroe, UC Davis wide receiver Keelan Doss and Weber State offensive lineman Iosua Opeta. Eastern Washington kicker Roldan Alcobendas made the list of specialists.
