MISSOULA — University of Montana women’s cross country coach Courtney Babcock has been named the Big Sky Conference coach of the year after leading the Grizzlies to their first league championship since 1984.
The award was based on voting by the Big Sky’s cross country coaches.
Montana entered the season as one of three league favorites and won the conference championship late last month in Cheney, Wash.
Montana had two runners in the top four and beat Weber State by 14 points.
Senior Katrina Drennen was second overall while freshman Keli Dennehy fourth. Both earned all-Big Sky Conference honors.
Babcock is in her third season with Montana’s women’s cross country program.
