HELENA -- Carroll College football coach Mike Van Diest has announced the signing of Sheridan, Wyo., standout Dawson Osborn.

Osborn, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker, was named the Wyoming 4A defensive player of the year last fall, when he had 138 tackles, six tackles for loss and one sack.

He was a first team all-state selection and was named to Wyoming's Super 25 team at linebacker, and he was also and all-conference pick as an offensive lineman.

Sheridan won the 4A state title in 2009, Osborn's junior year, and lost in the 4A championship game last fall.

Osborn joins Kyle Smith of Casper Kelly Walsh and Cooper Palmer of Green River as 2011 Carroll signees from Wyoming.

"This is a blue chip recruit that we are very excited to have join our program," said Van Diest. "Dawson brings all the intangibles that you want in a young person."
