HELENA — Defending national champion Carroll College is the unanimous first-place choice in the NAIA football coaches' spring poll.

Carroll capped a 14-0 season last year with a 10-7 win over Sioux Falls to claim the team's sixth national title in nine seasons.

With Sioux Falls moving to NCAA Division II, St. Xavier is ranked second, followed by MidAmerica Nazarene, Saint Francis and Morningside of Iowa.

Carroll's lone nonconference opponent, Dickinson State, is ranked seventh. Carroll plays in Dickinson, N.D., on Oct. 8.

Rocky Mountain College is among the teams outside the Top 25 receiving votes.
