SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The second-seeded Carroll College women's soccer team lost in the first round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament on Thursday.

The Saints fell to No. 7 Rocky Mountain College in penalty kicks, 6-5. The game was scoreless through regulation and two overtime periods.

Rocky controlled the game and lead the Saints in shots 16-9. Carroll goalkeeper Devan Murfitt had to make seven saves to keep the game scoreless.

Emily Browne, Tanja Staben, Samie Heimer, Maia Wetzel, Jessica Kloepfer and Mikale Miller scored their penalty kicks for the Battlin' Bears, and one was missed.

Payton Netz, Makayla Welsh, Kirsten Girolami, McKenna Payne and Taryn Newmeyer made their penalty kicks for the Saints, but two were missed.
