Try 1 month for $5

DILLON — Montana Western volleyball coach Katie Howells has announced her resignation after five seasons as head coach.

The Bulldogs have posted a 9-117 record over the past five years, including a 1-23 mark this season.

Howells said Monday she hopes stepping aside can lead to a more successful program.

Athletic director Mark Durham says a search for a new head coach will begin immediately and the school hopes to have a new coach hired by the end of the year.

Howells graduated from Great Falls High and played volleyball at Western for four years, earning honorable mention NAIA All-America honors. She served as assistant coach for four years before being named head coach.
