LEWISTON, Idaho -- No. 6-ranked Lewis-Clark State shot 55 percent from the field Thursday night in beating Rocky Mountain College 81-63 in Frontier Conference women's basketball.
Senior center Alyssa Fierro's double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds led the way for the Warriors, who are now 2-1 in conference play and 16-2 overall. Fierro is from Bigfork.
L-C State also received 17 points from Jasmine Stohr, 13 from Kirsi Voshell and 10 from Tasha Bishop. Voshell collected nine rebounds.
The Battlin' Bears, who fell to 1-1 and 12-5, were led by the 17 points and five rebounds of Alli Blake. Micki Scally wound up with 13 points.
Rocky coach Brian Henderson said his Bears couldn't establish any rhythm on offense and shot just 43 percent on the night.
"I think L-C deserves a lot of the credit," Henderson added. "There's a reason why they're ranked where they are ... they're good."
The taller Warriors outscored the Bears 42-18 inside. L-C State also snagged 38 rebounds, while Rocky had 26.
The Bears will play at Utah's Westminster College on Saturday night. The Griffins (3-0 and 10-6) are ranked 24th nationally.
