SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The No. 8-ranked Rocky Mountain College men’s soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 4-0 win over Evergreen State College on Friday afternoon.

Rocky (16-1-1) had its shot at an outright CCC title snapped last week after the teams played to a 1-1 draw. On Friday, the Battlin’ Bears got the outcome they were looking for in defeating Evergreen (7-5-5).

The scoring started in the 30th minute with a goal from Sky Swenson. Pablo Ferreira set up the shot from the left side of the penalty area.

Rocky held that 1-0 lead into the halftime break and into the 60th minute when Swenson struck again. Milo Downey played a through ball to Swenson for a finish to the lower left of the keeper.

The lead hit 3-0 in the 80th minute as Jace Beck converted on a penalty kick. Mason Luse added the final tally in the 86th minute as he finished a through ball from Swenson.

Cole Catlin earned the win in goal with one save for his seventh shutout of the year.

Rocky advances to Saturday’s semifinals where it will face No. 13 Corban at 5 p.m.
