LEWISTON, Idaho — The men's cross country team at Rocky Mountain College finished second, and the Battlin' Bear women were sixth Friday at the Frontier Conference championships.

Rocky's men totaled 73 points in the race to trail only Lewis-Clark State (19 points) for the title. Fred Petsch anchored the team with a second-place finish with a time of 24:59. Jackson Duffey finished in 25:32 to place seventh.

With their top-10 finishes, both Petsch and Duffey qualify for the NAIA national championships.

L-C State's Nolan Ryan was the individual champion for the men at 24:29.

Rocky’s women totaled 146 points for the sixth-place result. Mei-Li Steven led the Battlin’ Bears in 18th after finishing the race in 19:46.

Carroll College claimed the women's title with 32 points. Janie Reid of the Saints triumphed with a clocking of 17:38.
