LEWISTON, Idaho — The Rocky Mountain College women placed fourth and the men were sixth Saturday at the Inland Empire Cross Country Championships.

The No. 21-ranked Battlin' Bear women were paced by Ruth Chepsat, who placed ninth with a time of 17:49. 

Idaho, Gonzaga University and the University of Calgary were the top three teams.

On the men's side, No. 22 Rocky was led by Jackson Duffey, who placed 30th at 24:49. Teammate Isaac Petsch was 34th at 24:54.

Calgary, Idaho, Lewis-Clark State, Gonzaga and Southern Idaho finished as the top five teams.

Running unattached, Aimee Piercy won the women's race in 17:20. Calgary's Alex James was first among the men at 23:29.

The Rocky runners will compete at the Montana Western Open on Friday.
