Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears Golf

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Rocky Mountain College women’s golf team is in 23rd place after the first round of the NAIA Championships on Tuesday.

The tournament continues through Friday.

Oklahoma City University shot a collective 1-under par for a six-stroke lead over Dalton State in the team standings.

Led by early leader Melissa Eldredge, OCU had a first-round score of 287. The Battlin’ Bears finished at 317.

Eldredge shot a five-under 67 on the 6,050-yard layout at the Lincoln Park West Golf Club. She is one of three OCU players in the top 15.

Eldredge had five birdies and no bogeys. She was the only player to shoot a sub-70 round on Tuesday.

Eryn Ellis shot a first-round 75 for Rocky, the Frontier Conference champion, and is tied for 33rd. Ellis had one birdie, coming on a par-5 hole on the front nine.

She is followed by Anna DeMars (tie 78, 79), Amanda Conner (tie 98, 81), Morgan O’Neil (tie 102, 82) and Hayden Flohr (tie 125, 85).
