Rocky to salute ski-racing champions

Rocky Mountain College will be saluting its national champion women's ski team with a celebration planned for noon on Wednesday in the Fortin Center gymnasium.

The public is invited to attend.

Rocky won the women's title at the United States Collegiate Ski Association championships on Friday in Lake Placid, N.Y. It is a first in the 27-year history of the school's ski-racing program.

Freshman Frida Svedberg swept the individual titles for the Bears, winning the giant slalom, slalom and combined events.

Sophomore Eloise Julliand was second in the combined.

Rocky brothers Erik (slalom) and Nils (giant slalom) Hogbom also won individual titles at nationals. They were also part of the Bears' winning dual slalom team.

Coach Jerry Wolf will be one of the speakers. He has been directing the program for 13 years.
