Jonathan Mesghna, a 6-6 forward from Germany, is transferring to the Montana State Billings men's basketball team.
Mesghna played last season for the University of Maine, a Division I program. The 216-pound small forward started 22 games for the Black Bears, averaging 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds. He had a season-high 17 points against Hartford and scored 11 in an 88-84 win over Florida Gulf Coast. Florida Gulf Coast would reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
The move reunites Mesghna with Jamie Stevens, who was his coach when both were at Central Wyoming College.
"I am really looking forward to coaching Jonathan another year,'' said Stevens. "He has great size for a wing. He rebounds well andis a big time shooter. Obviously, I think he is a guy who will have an immediate impact."
In 2011-12, Mesghna played for North Dakota State College of Science, where he averaged 13.3 points and a team-best 8.1 rebounds a game to earn all-conference honors. He helped NDSCS to a conference and Region XIII championship, posting a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds in the title game.
Mesghna played for Stevens at CWC during the 2010-11 season. He played in all 32 games, averaging 10.8 points. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds and made 78 3-pointers.
