BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Bobbie Lee hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning Friday to lift Montana State Billings to a 5-4 win over Western Washington in the second game of a Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball doubleheader.
WWU won the first game, 3-2. MSUB was the home team in the second game as it was a makeup from a game rained out in Billings earlier this month.
Lee, a junior from Great Falls, finished the day 3 for 6 with a double, a home run and two RBIs. Senior Kaycee Hoffman also homered, bringing the Jackets within one home run of the single-season team record (54) set in 2009.
Trailing 4-0 in the second game, MSUB rallied with four runs in the bottom of the sixth as Hoffman hit a two-run homer, Madison Smith had an RBI single and Rose Harrington scored on a first-and-third double steal.
The score remained 4-4 until Lee led off the bottom of the ninth with her third homer of the season, a drive over the right-center field fence.
Hoffman and Tarn Potter had two hits apiece for MSUB. Kasie Conder picked up the win in relief, working 2 2/3 innings and allowing just three hits.
Nicole Colpron was 2 for 3 with one RBI for the Jackets in the first game.
MSUB is now 20-20 overall and 15-13 in GNAC games. The Yellowjackets are in Burnaby, B.C., today for a GNAC doubleheader against Simon Fraser at 2 p.m.
