BILLINGS — Matt Dillon homered and pinch-hitter Tyler Detloff supplied a key two-run double Friday as league-leading Montana State Billings salvaged a doubleheader split against Western Oregon with a 9-7 victory in the second game at Dehler Park.
The visitors won the opener of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference twin bill by a 12-9 count in 10 innings.
The Yellowjackets (18-16, 18-8) and second-place Wolves (17-9, 14-9) will play another doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
Dillon stroked his solo home run in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1. It was his GNAC-leading 11th home run of the season.
Detloff's double made it a 9-5 contest in the fifth inning of the seven-inning contest.
Dylan Barkley (4-2) was the winning pitcher for MSUB. Hunter Roubidoux worked 2.1 innings for his second save.
Daniel Cipriano, Landon Peterson and Detloff all drove in two runs for the Yellowjackets.
Connor McCord homered twice for Western Oregon. Teammate Collin Runge also homered.
In the opener, Dillon's two-run single in the ninth tied the game at 9-all and forced extra innings.
The Wolves scored three times in the 10th on a sacrifice fly by Griffey Halle, an RBI-single by Derek Maiben and a throwing error.
Ryan Roche, Jalen Garcia, Chris Arpan, Dillon and Andrew Schleusner had two hits apiece for MSUB.
Wyatt Setian also homered for the Yellowjackets. It was his seventh of the year.
Jared McDonald and Halle homered for Western Oregon. Halle had a grand slam and finished with five RBIs.
