ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Trying to secure a berth in the NCAA Division II West Regional, the Montana State Billings women's basketball tournament starts with the Great Northwest Athletic Tournament on Thursday.

The Yellowjackets (19-11) play Central Washington (15-13) at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday in the first round. MSUB is the No. 4 seed and the Wildcats the No. 5 seed. CWU has lost five of its last six games.

The winner plays No. 1 seed Northwest Nazarene on Friday. The GNAC Tournament winner receives an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

MSUB is also ranked No. 8 in the most West Region poll, which will help determine the eight teams for the regional.

The Yellowjackets swept CWU this season, winning 86-84 in Billings and 78-58 in Ellensburg, Washington. Alisha Breen posted double-doubles in both wins with 20 points and 13 rebounds in the first meeting and 21 points and 16 rebounds in the second.

Rylee Kane had 17 points and nine assists in the first game and had 16 points and seven assists in the second. Vanessa Stavish added 17 points on five 3-pointers in the second game. CWU's Jasmine Edwards, along with Breen and Kane, rank first, second and sixth in GNAC history for minutes played.
