BILLINGS — The men's and women's golf teams from Montana State Billings placed fifth Tuesday at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference tournament in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

The men shot a team score of 303 on Tuesday, finishing the event with a three-round total of 904 (301-300-303). MSUB finished ahead of Northwest Nazarene among the field of six teams on the par-71, 6,803-yard layout.

Sophomore Caleb Trost was the Yellowjackets' top finisher at the event, posting a three-round score of 221 (74-70-77) and tying for 14th place.

Garrett Woodin finished in a tie for 19th place, with a three-round score of 225 (76-75-74).

Seniors Shealyn Hafer and Sarah Schroefel led the women's team in the final round. MSUB improved by 16 strokes after Round 1, and finished in fifth place among the field of six teams with a 652 (334-318).

Schroefel finished in 10th place with a two-round score of 158 (81-77), and Hafer was two strokes behind in 11th with a 160 (82-78).

Making the biggest leap up the standings was freshman Kinsey Irvin, who improved by nine strokes between rounds. Irvin finished in 20th place, with a two-round score of 167 (88-79).
