Seven players and the coach from Montana State Billings earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference honors for women’s soccer.
Don Trentham was selected the GNAC coach of the year after guiding the Yellowjackets to their first trip to the NCAA Division II national tournament.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by my peers,” said Trentham, who is 84-74-10 in nine seasons at MSUB. “To receive an award like this in a conference that is made up of so many quality coaches is an honor. The award is really a credit to the great student-athletes and assistant coach I’ve had the privilege of working with this fall.”
Seniors Kari Foreman and Samantha Boehm were first-team selections for MSUB. Sophomore Jaucelyn Richter received second-team honors while Lauren Anderson, Jennifer Larsen, Heidi Greenback and Sabrina Grandke-Bawab were honorable mention selections.
Foreman had five goals and four assists. It’s her third straight season she earned all-GNAC honors. Boehm helped the defense post eight shut outs this season and allow opponents to less than a goal a game.
Richter, the GNAC’s top freshman last year, finished with three goals and five assists this season.
Greenback and Granke-Bawab have been impact freshmen. Greenback has a team-high seven goals this season, while Grandke-Bawab has seven shut outs as the MSUB goal keeper. She has a goals against average of 0.78.
Jill Webb of Saint Martin’s was selected player of the year, while Seattle Pacific swept the other awards: Maddie Dickinson, defender of the year; Kendall Thoreson, newcomer of the year; Kellie Zakrzewski, freshman of the year.
