FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- Five players scored in double figures as the Montana State Billings women's basketball team routed Alaska Fairbanks, 84-58, Saturday afternoon.

The Yellowjackets (11-6, 3-3) led 38-33 at halftime and broke the game open with a 46-point second half.

Bobbi Knudsen paced MSUB with 17 points, including two 3-pointers. She also had four assists and two steals. Knudsen had 13 of her points in the first half.

Quinn Peoples and Kaylee Goggins had 15 points apiece, while Monica Grimsrud had 13 and Brooke Tolman 11. Janiel Olson had a team-high 11 rebounds.

The MSUB defense limited the Nanooks to 25 percent shooting in the second half.

"When we came out at halftime, I felt like our starters really responded and came out strong,'' said Yellowjacket head coach Kevin Woodin. "We were able to get good transition baskets as we well as some good, open looks from 3-pointer range because our defense really stepped up.

"Our bench played extremely well, particularly Monica and Brooke. I feel like our depth is really starting to show itself and is helping us wear down our opponents."

Nicole Bozek led UAF (4-11, 0-5) with 19 points, while Nicole Hartzog had 16.

MSUB returns to Alterowitz Gymnasium this week for GNAC games against Northwest Nazarene (Thursday) and Central Washington (Saturday).
