Kandice Kelly, a former Roundup High School and Montana State volleyball standout and University of Montana assistant, has been hired as the new head coach at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Kelly is the daughter of Rocky Mountain College head coach Laurie Kelly.

She will be replacing Colleen Frohlich, who resigned in December after one season because her husband accepted a job in Arizona. The Cardinals placed fifth at the national tournament last season after winning conference and Region 18 titles.

Kelly was the 2002 Montana Gatorade volleyball player of the year and helped lead Roundup to four Class B state titles. She played four years at Montana State, where the Bobcats made three Big Sky Conference tournament appearances.

She assisted at Montana from 2007-2010 under head coach Jerry Wagner.

"She is energetic and truly has a passion for coaching volleyball at this level," NIC athletic director Al Williams said of Kelly.
