Cowgirls fall to Fresno State in final seconds

LARAMIE, Wyo. — Shauqunna Collins’ layup with four seconds left lifted Fresno State to a 66-65 victory over Wyoming in Mountain West women’s basketball Saturday at Arena-Auditorium.

Collins finished with a game-high 26 points, make of 10 of 15 shots from the floor. Alex Sheedy added 11 points for the Bulldogs, who improved to 14-3 overall and 6-0 in the Mountain West.

It was Wyoming’s second consecutive loss and its sixth in the past eight games. Kayla Woodward and Marquelle Dent each scored 20 points to pace the Cowgirls (7-9, 2-4). Jordan Kelley added 11 points.

Woodward scored 13 second-half points as the Cowgirls fought back from a nine-point deficit. Dent hit a shot with 11 seconds left to put Wyoming ahead.

Wyoming looks to get back on track Saturday when it travels to play Mountain West foe New Mexico.
