LARAMIE, Wyo. — Wyoming senior Branson Ashworth was singled out as Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Monday afternoon.
The honor marks the second time this season that Ashworth has been recognized by the conference. It also stands as the fourth conference weekly award for a Cowboy this season, tying Northern Iowa.

Ashworth went 2-0 on the weekend, helping the Cowboys to a pair of Big 12 wins. At Utah Valley, Ashworth beat No. 9 Demetrius Romero 6-1. Next came a 16-0 technical fall over South Dakota State’s Kelby Hawkins on Senior Day in Laramie.
Now boasting a 29-3 overall record, Ashworth has won 15 bouts in a row heading into the final dual of the season at Big 12 rival Northern Colorado on Sunday. He has also picked up nine wins over ranked opponents this year.
