BELT - Detroit Lions tight end Casey FitzSimmons was in Belt last weekend to raise money for local athletes and for his foundation.
FitzSimmons is a native of Chester. His Casey FitzSimmons Foundation provides clothing and other items for underprivileged children in Montana.
Half of the proceeds from Saturday's fundraiser at Belt City Park will go to support high school athletes in Belt. The other half will go to FitzSimmons' foundation.
FitzSimmons has played in 87 games in the NFL since joining the Lions in 2003. He had 12 receptions and a touchdown in 14 games for the Lions this season.
