Former Carroll College wide receiver Travis Browne has joined the Billings Outlaws.
The 5-11, 185-pound Browne, a Stevensville native, originally signed with the Outlaws after an open tryout in January. He was with the team in training camp, but suffered a leg injury and was released.
Browne led Carroll in receiving in 2008, catching 67 passes for 1,028 and 11 touchdowns. He also returned 24 kicks for 388 yards and a touchdown for the Saints in ‘08. He was a two-time all-Frontier Conference selection and earned NAIA All-America honors as a senior.
“We were impressed with Travis’ quickness and agility in training camp before he got hurt,” said Outlaws coach Heron O’Neal. “From what I saw in practice (Thursday), he’s back to 100 percent. He looks good to go.
“If we dress four receivers for Saturday, there’s a good chance Travis will be one of them. He looks good in practice ... I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in a game.”
The Outlaws (7-1) will host the Fairbanks Grizzlies (5-2) on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m. at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark.
